Manolis N. Stavrakakis

Manolis N. Stavrakakis holds a degree and a PhD from the Higher School of Agriculture of Athens and is Professor Emeritus of the Agricultural University of Athens.

Among the research and teaching fields of his academic career, a prominent place is held by the description, identification, and differentiation of Greek grapevine varieties, initially through ampelographic methods, later using biochemical markers, and more recently through molecular techniques. Another key area of his work is the application of clonal selection for the identification and promotion of the most valuable clones of the Greek vineyard. He has published a large number of research papers on these topics.

In parallel, he has contributed, as scientific coordinator, to the resolution of important issues related to the Greek vineyard through the design and implementation of studies and research projects.

He has also participated, as coordinator or member, in interdisciplinary and research committees and working groups dealing with viticulture and wine sector issues, and has served as the national representative to the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV).

Nikos Zikos

Nikolaos Zikos is a graduate of the Department of Chemistry at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He holds a Master’s degree and a PhD in Industrial Chemistry, as well as a second Master’s degree (MBA) from the Hellenic Open University (HOU) and a Certificate of Specialization in Counseling and Career Guidance from ASPAITE.

He has served as Associate Editor-in-Chief of the journal Chemica Chronica (2016–2017) and has published a large number of articles in the proceedings of international and national conferences, as well as in Greek and international scientific journals. In addition, he has collaborated extensively with scientific organizations, acting as a reviewer for conference papers in areas related to his scientific interests. He is the author of four collective volumes in the field of Counseling, an expert for the Institute of Educational Policy (IEP) in curriculum development and educational material design for the second grade of upper secondary education, and a trainer in the “Apprenticeship” program. He also has long-standing experience in adult education (vocational institutes, Moodle training seminars) and is a certified trainer by EOPPEP.

He currently works as a Chemist and has served at the Zanneio Experimental Gymnasium of Piraeus.
